Dr Chan has considerable experience in all types of medicolegal work dating back to 2007, with past attendance of specialist medicolegal courses, and has appeared in court as expert witness for both prosecution and defence. His current ratio of Claimant:Defendant work is 60:40. In particular Dr Chan has been instructed on the following issues:

  • Road traffic incidents: to determine the possibility of medical conditions causing loss of consciousness and subsequent road traffic accidents
  • Personal injury:
    • cognitive impairment or deterioration of existing dementia following injury
    • neurological impairment following injury

Terms and Conditions for medicolegal instructions are available upon request.

Following receipt of a Letter of Instruction, signed agreement of the Terms and Conditions and and provision of the necessary documentation, Dr Chan will normally wish to interview and examine the client in one of his private clinics. The medicolegal report will be submitted to the instructing solicitor within four working weeks of the client assessment.

Dr Chan has provided reports and given evidence in a number of cases in which I have represented drivers facing prosecuion following fatal and serious injury road traffic incidents. As a neurologist he has been able to assist in several cases where drivers have lost consciousness against a backdrop of chronic ill health of one kind or another. He turns around his reports quickly and efficiently. He has an excellent assured court manner which lends weight to his opinion. I am very happy to recommend him as an expert witness in a case where assistance is required in neurological matters.
